Google Workspace
by Google (Chrome DevTools team) · Platform · also known as G Suite, Google Apps for Work
Google's hosted productivity suite: Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Meet, Chat and Calendar with admin controls, Gemini features and developer APIs
Overview
Google Workspace, formerly G Suite, is Google's subscription productivity and collaboration suite for organisations. It bundles Gmail on custom domains, Drive storage, the Docs, Sheets, Slides and Forms editors with real-time co-editing and comments, Calendar, Meet video conferencing, Chat and Spaces, Sites, Keep and Vids, administered centrally with identity, device and data-retention controls; Gemini AI features are integrated into the apps on current plans. Everything runs in the browser with mobile apps and limited offline modes, and developers automate it through Apps Script, the Workspace REST APIs and Marketplace add-ons. Universities and small companies use it as a complete office environment that needs no servers. Plans are sold by seat (Business Starter, Standard, Plus and Enterprise), with consumer Google accounts offering the editors for free. Limits include dependence on Google's cloud and data policies, editors less feature-rich than desktop Office for complex spreadsheets or typesetting, and constrained offline functionality.
