Overview

IMF Data is the International Monetary Fund's portal for its macroeconomic and financial statistics, relaunched in 2025 on a new platform. It hosts the World Economic Outlook database with historical series and medium-term projections, the Fiscal Monitor, consumer price indices, reserve composition (COFER), balance of payments, international liquidity (formerly part of International Financial Statistics) and many thematic datasets. Data can be explored and downloaded in the browser and retrieved programmatically through SDMX 2.1 and SDMX 3.0 web services, with guidance for MATLAB, Python, R and Stata and a Swagger explorer. It is a core source for cross-country macro-financial research and policy work. Access is free; the IMF's copyright and usage terms govern redistribution. The platform migration changed dataset identifiers and endpoints relative to the former JSON RESTful service, so older client code and tutorials may need updating, and some datasets are released on a lag or require sign-in for the API explorer.

Editorial note on uncertainty. IMF pages block automated HTTP clients; content was verified via a rendering fetcher. The copyright and usage terms page could not be loaded today, so licensing details are not recorded.
