Elicit
by Elicit · Platform · also known as Elicit.org, Elicit.com
AI research assistant that finds papers, extracts structured data from them into tables and runs systematic-review style workflows and reports
Overview
Elicit is a hosted AI assistant for evidence synthesis. Its core workflow is to search a large corpus of academic papers for a question, screen the results, and extract user-defined fields from each paper into a table, with every answer linked to the passage it came from. Around that it offers chat with full-text papers, research reports generated through a process modelled on systematic reviews, a dedicated systematic-review mode that automates screening and extraction, a library for reusing sources, and "routines" that re-run a search as new evidence appears. Zotero import and an API are available on paid tiers.
Plans are tiered: a free Basic plan with limited usage, per-user Pro and Scale plans billed monthly or yearly, and an Enterprise plan for companies and schools. Elicit does not name its underlying bibliographic sources on its public pages.
Outputs are generated by language models, so extracted values must be spot-checked against the source, and the tool works best for empirical literatures with consistent reporting.
Editorial note on uncertainty. The legal entity behind Elicit is not named on the public pages checked.
